A compilation of Jeremy Jacquet’s highly anticipated Liverpool debut has sparked plenty of discussion on social media, with supporters eager to share their thoughts on his impressive display.
The 21-year-old centre-back, considered one of Europe’s brightest young defensive talents, joined Liverpool from Rennes in a £60 million deal at the beginning of July.

Jacquet had been sidelined for the second half of last season after suffering a knee injury while recovering from a previous shoulder problem. As a result, he was unavailable for Liverpool’s recent friendlies against Wrexham, Leeds United and Monaco.
However, after putting in the work to regain full fitness before the new season, the defender finally made his unofficial Liverpool debut on Sunday, featuring for 45 minutes against Cesc Fabregas’ Como.
It proved to be a memorable outing for Jacquet, who heard Liverpool supporters sing “Ooooooh Jeremy Jacquet” just 16 minutes into the game.

The young defender was arguably Liverpool’s best player during their 2-0 victory, displaying excellent composure in possession alongside Virgil van Dijk while also showing impressive pace when forced to deal with his opponent in one-on-one situations.
The France under-21 international also capped his performance with a goal shortly before the interval.
His display earned plenty of praise from Liverpool fans, with one supporter writing: “One of the most impressive debuts I have seen in a very long time; winning his duels, reading the game with ease, a Rolls Royce with the ball at his feet. Effortless physical specimen, always looks in first gear.”
Another fan posted: “We really struck gold with Jeremy Jacquet,” while a third said: “Jeremy Jacquet has had the best first half I’ve ever seen any player have in a debut game. Unbelievable.”
A fourth supporter added: “Can’t remember a Liverpool debutant make such a strong impression in their first 45 minutes. If this is anything to go by on what’s to come, Jeremy Jacquet doesn’t really have a ceiling. He will be worth every penny.”
### Andoni Iraola is a huge admirer of Jeremy Jacquet
Jacquet became the tenth-most expensive French player in history following his move to Liverpool and is confident he has what it takes to succeed at Anfield, despite making only 31 appearances for Rennes.
Andoni Iraola is equally convinced that the youngster has the ability to make an immediate impression.
“Jeremy was a player that I knew very well, even before signing for Liverpool,” he said last month. “Still being young, I think he has all the tools that we will need for that position.
“He also came into the last months of the [past] season with a shoulder injury, but he is fully healed. He has already been training with the under-21’s. He’s ready to go from the beginning.”
