Watch: Andre Onana left red-faced as Man Utd flop concedes comical goal from corner

Andre Onana suffered yet another embarrassing moment after the Manchester United outcast conceded straight from a corner during Trabzonspor’s Conference League encounter.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper remains under contract with United but is currently spending his second consecutive season on loan in Turkey.

The Cameroon international was unable to prevent a corner from finding the net against Finnish opponents Kuopion Palloseura.

Trabzonspor appeared to have the match firmly under control, establishing a 3-0 advantage just two minutes into the second half.

Former Southampton striker Paul Onuachu opened the scoring before Liverpool legend Mo Salah added a second shortly before half-time.

The Egyptian, who joined the Turkish side in the summer following his departure from Anfield, took his season’s goal tally to eight in just ten appearances.

Franculino Dju extended Trabzonspor’s lead to three shortly after the interval, seemingly putting the result beyond doubt.

However, experienced midfielder Petteri Pennanen handed Kuopion Palloseura renewed hope after Onana made a costly error while attempting to deal with a corner.

Pennanen delivered the ball directly from the corner flag, but the United loanee jumped and somehow failed to prevent it from crossing the line.

Onana remained on the ground as his team-mates walked away, eventually getting back to his feet and continuing with the game.

Dju scored again during stoppage time to complete his brace, while former Bristol City forward Gustav Engvall netted a late consolation to make the final score 4-2.

Manchester United supporters wasted little time expressing their frustrations on social media, with one fan commenting: “Do not miss this man, no matter how bad we are.”

Another wrote: “Nice to see he is still an absolute liability.”

A third offered a blunt assessment, stating: “One of the worst goalkeepers I have seen.”

Onana arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2023 after United paid Inter Milan £47 million for his services. He was brought in to replace David de Gea and reunite with Erik ten Hag, his former manager at Ajax.

The goalkeeper made 101 appearances across two seasons under Ten Hag and subsequently Ruben Amorim. However, his 102nd outing for United, an unconvincing performance against Grimsby in the second round of the EFL Cup last August, ultimately contributed to his departure on loan.

Despite helping the club win the FA Cup in 2024, Onana’s overall spell at Manchester United fell well short of expectations.

United subsequently brought in Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp as his replacement, and the club has shown little reason to regret that decision so far.
