The new Premier League campaign is almost here, but one Arsenal youngster is now facing a long recovery after revealing he suffered a ruptured ACL during pre-season, turning what should have been a career milestone into a heartbreaking setback.
The teenager was handed a first-team opportunity against Real Betis, replacing a teammate at right-back at the start of the second half.

However, his outing lasted only ten minutes before he was forced off through injury, with Theo Julienne taking his place.
Arsenal supporters have now received confirmation of the worst possible outcome, with the serious injury ending any realistic chance of the youngster earning Premier League appearances or securing a loan move this season.
The player is 19-year-old Louie Copley, Arsenal’s Under-21 midfielder, who shared the devastating update on Instagram.

Although naturally a midfielder, Copley was asked to operate at right-back against the Spanish outfit before being substituted because of the injury. The youngster wrote:
“Words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now, to making my pre season debut for the team I’ve grown up supporting to finding out I’ve ruptured my ACL. The road ahead won’t be easy but I’ll give everything to come back stronger and better.”
Before the injury, Copley had been making encouraging progress during Arsenal’s pre-season preparations. He had also been deployed at right-back in the Gunners’ opening friendly against Girona.
His displays stood out thanks to his attacking intent down the right wing, offering a different profile from Arsenal’s regular full-backs.
Unlike Jurien Timber, Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White, who all arrived at the club as centre-backs before adapting to the role, Copley brought a more adventurous approach.
The England youth prospect spent the latter part of last season on loan at Crawley Town and had already experienced a taste of senior-team involvement after being included on the bench for Arsenal’s meeting with Club Brugge.
At academy level, Copley has established himself as a key figure for the Under-21 side and has regularly captained the team, highlighting the leadership qualities that have made him one of the club’s most highly regarded young talents.
