VIDEO: Brazil star suffers terrifying injury as he falls down in hole while celebrating goal

Brazilian supporters were left stunned after Coritiba defender Jacy plunged into a tunnel while celebrating a goal that was later ruled out.

The 29-year-old jumped over the advertising boards before suddenly disappearing into an opening on the pitch, with the tunnel leading towards the away dressing room.

Jacy experienced a terrifying moment after clearing the barriers, only to realise there was nowhere to land and he was heading straight down.

The tunnel is usually covered, but ground staff had opened it as the first half was drawing to a close.

His team-mates immediately rushed over to see if he was okay, with Jacy emerging moments later before collapsing to the ground.

Medical staff quickly attended to the defender, who took some time to recover behind the goal after the frightening fall.

Making matters worse, the goal Jacy had been celebrating, which he believed had given Coritiba a 2-0 advantage, was subsequently ruled out by VAR for offside.

Although Jacy managed to continue until half-time, he was withdrawn early in the second half after the impact of the fall appeared to catch up with him.

Coritiba eventually secured a 2-1 victory over Brazilian top-flight side Chapecoense on Saturday evening, with Tiago Coser and Pedro Rocha Neves getting on the scoresheet.

Remarkably, the tunnel at Estadio Couto Pereira has been responsible for another bizarre incident in the past.

Back in 2014, Coritiba centre-forward Joel also suffered an unfortunate fall during a match against Sao Paulo.

Even more strangely, the same security guard who helped Jacy after his fall this weekend was also involved in assisting Joel on that occasion.
