WATCH: Two Arsenal players caught sleeping before Brighton goals

Arsenal’s backline was exposed as Brighton opened the scoring, with Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes seemingly caught off guard during the move.

The Seagulls advanced towards the edge of Arsenal’s penalty area, but both Calafiori and Gabriel appeared reluctant to step forward and deal with the threat.

Their hesitation allowed the Brighton attacker to move into a dangerous position with plenty of room to work with and test David Raya.

Calafiori, playing at left-back, seemed slow to respond as the attack developed, while Gabriel also appeared more focused on watching the play than moving out to challenge the ball.

Arsenal had started the match boasting the Premier League’s strongest defensive record, having let in just one goal across their first four fixtures.

However, Brighton took advantage of another defensive lapse to find the net again before the interval.

The Seagulls have now added a second goal, with the latest strike seemingly highlighting a familiar weakness in Arsenal’s defensive organisation.

Once again, Brighton found space to progress through the central area just outside the penalty box, as Calafiori and Gabriel stood off instead of stepping out decisively to shut down the danger.

The second goal has brought further attention to Arsenal’s defence, with the Gunners needing to address the excessive space being allowed to opposing attackers.
