Michael Olise was France’s chief provider of assists at the World Cup, but with Kylian Mbappé sidelined through injury, he has now emerged as Les Bleus’ main source of goals.
He produced another stunning effort tonight, putting France briefly ahead against Italy.

Roberto Mancini’s team had successfully frustrated the French attack for the first 55 minutes, but neither they nor Gianluigi Donnarumma could prevent the Bayern Munich star from finding the net with a brilliant free-kick.
Rayan Cherki set the ball up for Olise, who took care of the rest by smashing his effort into the net off the crossbar.

Zinedine Zidane’s reaction summed up the moment as he celebrated the first home goal of his tenure.
The goal adds to what has been an extraordinary start to the campaign for Olise, who remains an outside contender for the Ballon d’Or.
However, France’s celebration lasted only 13 minutes before their centre-back surged forward, took advantage of some poor passing and finished with the composure of a prime Italian striker.
