Jude Bellingham has found himself at the center of controversy following England’s painful World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina.
The Three Lions moved in front thanks to Anthony Gordon and held their advantage over the reigning world champions until the 85th minute.
After taking the lead, Thomas Tuchel’s side gradually retreated, inviting pressure that eventually proved costly.

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez levelled the score with a strike from outside the area, before Lionel Messi found space deep into stoppage time to deliver a pinpoint cross that substitute Lautaro Martinez headed home for the winner.
It was a bitter setback for England after an intense yet mostly fair contest, but tensions flared at the final whistle. Amid Argentina’s celebrations, Bellingham became involved in an incident that quickly drew attention.
Bellingham has been Mr. Composed for England during this World Cup, receiving widespread praise for both his performances and his conduct. He consistently delivered in key moments on the pitch while also earning admiration for taking time to acknowledge supporters and others around him, even when many would simply walk past.

However, emotions got the better of the midfielder as he watched Argentina celebrate reaching the final, where they will take on European champions Spain, and social media has now revealed what may have triggered his reaction.
When Fernandez equalised, Argentina substitute Valentin Barco, who had not featured in the match, sprinted onto the field, but unlike his teammates, he chose a different route.

Barco initially appeared to be running toward teammates on the opposite side of the pitch, but he briefly stopped to leap into the air and celebrate directly in front of Bellingham, seemingly adding to the England star’s frustration.
Bellingham appeared to remember the moment, and after the final whistle, with Argentina celebrating together nearby, he walked over to Barco and seemed to slap him on the back of the head.
Barco immediately turned and pushed Bellingham away before another Argentina player stepped in to separate them. A brief confrontation followed, involving some shoving, before both teams eventually dispersed.
Speaking after the game, Bellingham said he hoped England would use the disappointment as motivation going forward.
He said: “I think we can take a lot of experience from this, but it is so gutting. I wanted to be a part of an England squad that finally done it and got it over the line. To be here, telling the fans the same things they’ve heard for years, it’s really gutting.
“I wish I could give one more win or two more wins, but at the moment, my head is a bit fuzzy with disappointment, so I’m sorry.”
Bellingham leaves the tournament with plenty of credit after producing a series of influential displays for the Three Lions and, on several occasions, helping rescue his side.
However, like many of his teammates, he was unable to stamp his authority on the semi-final.
